Kafka on the Shore

“Along with the pain there’s a feeling of closeness, as though for once in my life the world’s treating me fairly. I feel elated, as if all of a sudden I’ve been set free.”
Haruki Murakami, 'Kafka on the Shore'

The dark, mysterious Takamatsu sea. I really need to finish reading Kafka on the Shore, to see what it's all about....

I've never read Murakami, but everyone keeps telling me I should! Everything looks so beautiful, I am truly envious. It's constantly grey and dreary over here. Hit me with that e-mail, I'm sooo curious now!

What a fantastic post. Isn't it wonderful how an author can reach out to you and really express what you're feeling so well?

all my japanese foreigners always recommend haruki murakami to me. it seems like you arent an official expat in japan until you've read one of his books.
